Laura was born in Maldon, and grew up in the rural Essex village of Tolleshunt D’Arcy. Now based just outside of Oxford and working as a freelance illustrator and designer, she continues to be inspired by the rich history of the places she has lived.

Laura creates fantastical and whimsical portraits and scenes, inspired by the magical, cosy and creepy folkloric childhood memories of village life. Working primarily with watercolours, she has recently found a love for pen and ink. She loves to adorn her paintings with gold or silver foils for an extra magical twist. Her inspirations are artists such as Arthur Rackham, Eyvind Earle, and Cicely Mary Barker.
